Class Types

Babies Class for birth - 8 months

In the Music Together® Babies class, for infants from birth through 8 months, you'll learn a lot of fun musical activities for babies. You'll also learn to recognize which of your baby's behaviors are musical so that you can support their development at the time when your baby's brain is at its most receptive.

The Babies class has other benefits, too! Singing and dancing with your baby is a beautiful way for the two of you to bond. And making music with other parents of newborns is a great way to make new friends in your community who are as sleep deprived as you!

Music Together® Mixed Ages Class for birth - 5 years

The essential Music Together® Mixed Ages class is one that a child can attend from birth through age five through all our nine, unique song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers— grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience.

Rhythm Kids® for 4-7 y/o, with a Grownup

Rhythm Kids® is the next musical step for your preschool or early elementary school child (geared toward children ages 4 through 7 years, with a parent or caregiver), and is an exciting PLAY-BASED music, movement, and drumming program. Each week we drum, sing, dance, play rhythm instruments, and explore musical dynamics and play music-based games. Rhythm Kids® guides children toward applying their basic music competence through developmentally appropriate music and movement activities, where they can begin to lead others, and be musically creative, as they:

  •  Learn, create, and discover music, movement and drumming basics.

  •  Enjoy age-appropriate ways to lead in playing a variety of rhythm instruments.

  •  Explore traditional drumming patterns from around the world (Mali, Puerto Rico, Turkey, etc.).

  •  Find new ways to connect mind, body, and voice through rhythm and song.

  •  Develop skill in soloing, conducting, composition, and improvisation.

  •  Participate in active musical games that are both enriching and totally fun!

Your child will:

  • Explore the world of rhythm through movement, instrument play, and singing.

  • Apply basic rhythm and tonal skills, such as, keeping a steady beat, creating movements that can be adapted to different levels of the beat, ensemble and solo singing, echoing different tonal intervals.
