UpBeat Louisville was established, in it's current form, August of 2023, but it's roots run more than 20 years into the past!
Back in ..... of ..... Maria Whitley Rochman brought the Music Together® program to our community as Shine Louisville. She offered classes at the Mellwood Arts Center, and then moved to her own space in the green building in the heart of NuLu shortly after. Over the next two decades, Shine Louisville moved to the Clifton Center, the Louisville Academy of Music, Louisville Dance Alliance and, last, St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Four teachers from the community contributed to Maria's established community and one, Maggie Soeder, once she startd the program, never left. When Maria was ready to retire from teaching Music Together, Maggie was ready to step into the role.
Parallel to Shine Louisville, Ms. Miriam Klein had also found a love for Music Together and broght the program to the East Louisville community.
